  22. Installation instructions

  24. To start the CD-ROM application, please double click on the "Start" symbol.

  26. If you do not have 8 MB free main memory available on your computer, please activate the virtual RAM memory of the Apple operating system:
  27.  
  28. 1. Select "Control Panels" in the Apple menu.
  29. 2. Select the Control Panel file "Memory".
  30. 3. Activate the virtual memory.
  31.  
  32. Please note that the playback speed of QuickTime films may be reduced considerably when virtual memory is used.
  33.  
  34. In order to view the QuickTime films in better quality, we recommend that you use a colour display with 32,000 colours. Please note, however, that this higher colour resolution may slow down processing and other applications on some system configurations.

  36. To be able to guarantee error-free operation, we also recommend that you deactivate any installed screen savers.

  39. QuickTime
  40.  
  41. In order to use this CD-ROM you need the QuickTime system extension. This extension is generally automatically installed together with the system software. Should this extension not be installed on your system, open the folder "->System Extensions" on this CD-ROM and drag the "QuickTime" and "Soundmanager 3.2.1" symbol from there to the symbol of your own System Folder. If you are using a PowerMac, please also do the same with the "QuickTime PowerPlug" symbol. Then restart your computer in order to activate these system extensions.

In the CD-ROM application you can directly access the BMW homepage using an Internet Browser. For this you need to have a Browser with mail program already installed (Netscape Navigator 3.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02 or higher) as well as an activated and configured Internet connection. When the CD-ROM application and the Browser are used in parallel, the memory requirement given in the respective system requirements increases by the memory required by the respective Browser (additionally approx. 10 Mbyte).

  49. Screen saver

We have produced a BMW screen saver for you which you can install from the CD-ROM application. You will find it on the "Quit" page. Please note the respective installation instructions and the fact that the memory requirements given in the respective system requirements is increased by 2.5 Mbyte when the screen saver and application are used in parallel.
